* Too Much Sleep - Believe it or not, more sleep won't make you less tired. Quite the opposite.

Sleeping too much and not getting enough activity in your daily life in general can lead to exhaustion and fatigue. Eight hours a day of sleep is adequate for your average adult.

Sleep cycles also play an important role in whether you wake up feeling refreshed or still tired. An average sleep cycle lasts four hours. Waking up in the middle of your sleep cycle as opposed to the end will have you feeling sluggish. Timing your bedtime to ensure that you are finishing your sleep cycle when you awake can help you wake up refreshed.

* Poor Diet and Nutrition - Some vitamin and mineral deficiencies can contribute to exhaustion as will a poor overall diet.

A lack of iron for example can lead to anemia which causes extreme exhaustion and malaise. Eating a diet high in fats and sugary foods is another common way that people cause themselves to feel always tired. On the flipside, not eating enough and skipping meals is a sure ticket for exhaustion as well.

A healthy diet that incorporates all of the food groups and uses healthy low fat cooking methods is a good way to ensure that you eat for maximum energy. Plus adding a vitamin and mineral suppliment will make sure that you aren't missing any crucial nutrients in your diet.

* Too Much Caffeine - More is not better when it comes to caffeine. Caffeine is best limited if not avoided altogether if you are feeling always tired. Caffeine increases your heart rate to make you feel alert but when it wears off, the exhaustion is only amplified.

While coffees and energy drinks are popular ways to get more energy, they are actually working against you. Worse, they are addictive. Switching to a caffeine free diet will take adjustment, but doing without the caffeine will make you feel better in the long run, plus it's much healthier on your body.

* Sedentary Lifestyle - Do you work in an office or spend the majority of your day at a desk. A sedentary lifestyle can contribute to feeling tired.

Lack of exercise and activity causes your body to run in slow motion, not just while your working but all the time! The solution is to make sure that you pep up your step by slipping in short bursts of exercise whenever possible. Lunch hour? Take a brisk walk or jog around the parking lot. Before and after work if you can make time to fit in just 10 - 15 minutes of vigorous activity, you will be helping to increase your overall energy levels.
